Style advice

From: info@gloucestershirebride.com

Don’t make your bridesmaids spend money on a dress they hate.
This could be the fifth wedding this year. You have the liberty to be creative today with your bridesmaid dresses.

Don’t go crazy on over the top hair and makeup.
This picture will be with you forever. Go with timeless not trendy styles. Look to the red carpet hairstyles to give you ideas if you are wondering about a particular style. You don’t have to wear your hair up.

Do test out your makeup and hair style in advance.
Take a picture and look at it.

Don’t make a mistake of getting a veil that looks like a mosquito net.
Your veil should compliment the gown not overshadow the wedding gown.

No more matching bridesmaid’s dresses.
That day is long gone. Let your bridesmaids wear different styles. They don’t have to have to have identical shoes either. No more clones! Think of everyone’s walk down the aisle, like a fashion show. Everyone looks good and stylish but don’t look all the same.

Don’t go broke on your wedding gown.
It is a dress not a down payment on a house. Spending $10,000 on your wedding gown and then having a cash bar is a big no-no. Spend less and a reasonable amount on your gown so your entire event can be classy.

Take a risk with your wedding gown.
Wear what suits you and be true to yourself.

Guys, don’t wear someone else pants.
Buy your suit instead of wearing a rented tuxedo that 150 other guys have worn on their special day.

Do let the guys be more individual as well.
The groomsmen don’t have to look like penguins. No colored vests! No top hats!

Guests should give thought to their dress as well.
Be conservative. The attention should be on the bride and groom not on your outfit. It’s not a night club - it’s a wedding reception.

Don’t wear a tiara.
They are outdated and definitely not in. If you are Princess Diana and have a tiara with 200 real diamonds, it’s ok, otherwise skip the tiara. It looks forced.

Too much tan is a definite no-no.
It is your wedding day not spring break.

Don’t make your bridesmaids wear the same hairstyles.

Don’t look too trendy. You want to look timeless.
Think of the legendary beauties - sleek, simple and still looks good 30 years from now.

Guests should not wear white to a wedding!
White is reserved for the bride.

Grooms schedule your haircut one week before your wedding day.
Don’t get your haircut the day before the wedding.

Do not get a facial the day before the wedding.

Don’t forget about comfort on your wedding day as well when deciding on your wedding attire.
You don’t want your feet to kill you but sneakers are definitely a no-no with your wedding gown.

Don’t drink too much on your wedding day.
Nothing is attractive about a bride who has drunk too much. You want it to a a joy not a joke!

Be yourself on your wedding day.
Look like yourself. Just focus on looking your best not like other brides. This is your Oscar night.
